Our
Past Champions
Ch.
Alar's Summer Breeze "Emma"
sire: Ch. Ridona's Proud Heritage
dam: Ch. Ridona's Colorado Spring, CD
Owned by Brian Nixon & Jessica Carlson
wh. 7/1/90
After winning a major Best of Opposite over specials
her first weekend out from the 6-9 class, Emma finished with 3 majors.
She was my first "homebred" Champion. |
Ch.
Alar's N-Vee My Heritage "Holly"
sire: Ch. Ridona's Proud Heritage
dam: Ch. Ridona's Colorado Spring, CD
Owned by Michelle Gamblin
wh. 7/1/90
Holly lived in Montana, where shows, much less majors,
were scarce. Her owner sent her to be shown by me in California,
where she finished easily with 3 majors She was briefly shown as
a special, winning several Bests of Breed in the Spring of 1993
(one shown here). At that time we acquired Rock, who was bred by
Holly's owner. She agreed to let me lease Holly for her first litter,
and breed her to Rock. The resulting litter produced three outstanding
Champions shown farther down this page. |
Ch. Alar's Nevada Gamble "Reno"
sire: DCh. CJ's Redwing Rebel [photo]
dam: Ch. Ridona's Colorado Spring, CD
Owned by Anne Brendell
wh. 6/93
"Reno" was more than a bit wild, and his
owner didn't know what to do with him. She knew he was gorgeous
but couldn't control him in the show ring.; She asked if she could
send him to me and see what I could do with him. I decided to use
his ultra-alertness and energy to his advantage, and entered him
in a few shows. He was a REAL handful, but finished in less than
10 shows, third place once and otherwise always Winners or Reserve.

Ch. Alar's Kathleen "Katie"
sire: Ch. N-Vee's Touch of Romance
dam: Ch. Alar's N-Vee My Heritage
Owned by T.K. (Kathy) Boyll
wh. 9/2/93
Katie also got an early start in the show ring, winning
her first major with a BOS over specials from the puppy class, and
finished easily with 4 majors. Dave Lachance broke her and was running
her in Gun Dog stakes when she was accidentally bred, and was unable
to complete her field title since Dave later decided to stop training
Brittanys. Bred to Ch. Hybrittin's Buffalo Bonz, Katie produced Ch. SMR Rincon Vista Duchess CD JH AX AXJ,
and Princess Haley II who gave us our superstar, Taryn. |
Ch. Mill Creek Splash of Alar, CD "Splash"
sire: Ch. N-Vee's Touch of Romance
dam: Ch. Alar's N-Vee My Heritage
Owned by Cathy Dutra
wh. 9/2/93
Splash was the third of the litter's show pups to
win a major from the puppy class. Hers was a major BOS to Rock (shown
here). She also finished with 3 majors. In 2000 she finished her
CD with high scores, placements in her class, and twice earning
High Scoring Brittany. |
Wyntuk-Alar Rock Star "Axel"
sire: Ch. N-Vee's Touch of Romance
dam: Ch. Ridona Bright Star of Wyntuk [photo]
Owned by Neal Kernes
wh. 11/1/94
I kept Axel in hopes of finding a show home for him. He won Best
in Sweepstakes his first time out, later won his (big) 12-15 months
class at the ABC National in 1995, then won 2nd Money Male at the
Western Futurity in 1996. He was a dynamo in the field, and won
two juvenile field trial placements. Although Axel was very nice,
he was not the caliber of Rock or Chase, so I chose to find him
a good pet/hunting home, where he was very happy hunting and playing
with the kids throughout his long life. |
Wyntuk-Alar
Sassy Sadie "Sadie"
sire: Ch. N-Vee's Touch of Romance
dam: Ch. Ridona Bright Star of Wyntuk [photo]
Owned by Judy DiFranco
wh. 11/1/94
A regular beach runner and a true monster, "Sassy Sadie"
was always hard as a rock and ready to go. With gorgeous true, sound,
straight movement, she was always in contention in the show ring,
but the beach wreaked havoc on her coat and she never had any featherings...she
took a bunch of major Reserves, but no points. I showed her in Bred
By Exhibitor at the ABC National Specialty in 1996, where she won
a huge, beautiful Bred By Exhibitor class and then got Reserve Winners
Bitch. I took a break from dog shows for a few years after that
show, so this beautiful girl never finished her Championship. And
I was so taken away by Rock winning the national that year, I forgot
to get a picture of Sadie's Reserve win, so we don't even have a
show photo of her! |
Ch.
Sovereign's Architect's Code, SH "Frankie"
sire: Ch. Alar's The Rocketeer CD SH
dam: Ch. Sovereign's Built To Code JH
Owned by Don McNabb
wh. 5/5/01
Frankie is Chase's son that we co-owned with his breeders (Dawn
& Joe Droel) for three years. He finished easily in the show
ring with 4 majors including 2 specialty wins, with big accomplishments
at the ABC Summer and National specialties along the way. He was
Best in the ABC Western Futurity show in February 2003. In the summer
of 2004 he went back to Minnesota to be specialed by Dawn, winning
multiple Bests of Breed and a Sporting Group First.
Frankie is a beautiful, intense bird dog who finished
his Junior Hunter title easily and placed three times in Derby field
trial stakes. He was my best buddy and went everywhere with me for
a couple of years, but when it became apparent that he had more
potential than I had time to devote to his field work, I made the
decision to find him a new home where he would be as loved and spoiled
as he was with me, and also be able to continue in the field. He
has found that with his new owner, Don McNabb of Glendale, Arizona,
where he is properly spoiled and now working toward his Master Hunter
title. We wish them the very best! |
Australian
Ch. Alar's Steel Shadow "Steel"
sire: FC KB's Shadow-Dancer
dam: Ch. Sovereign Alar Skyrocket JH
Owned by Marilyn Di Natale & Jennifer Sharrock
wh. 9/25/05
Steel was the pick puppy from Halley's first litter. He was promised
before he was born to a breeder in Australia who was hoping to bring
some new blood into their country. Steel grew up in the US for his
first year, then went to Australia to become a show champion and
valued sire. He has already accomplished both of those and is enjoying
his life "down under". Read more on Steel's
page. |
