"River The Liver" is a joint venture
between myself and Sherry Larsen of Almaden Brittanys in California. River's
sire is one of my all-time favorite Brittanys, the 2001 National Field
Champion "Shadow", and
his dam was Rock's last Champion daughter. River's pedigree includes many
National Champions and Hall of Fame members. River's parents proved to
be an outstanding match that produced a litter full of true Dual quality
dogs.
River won two show majors from the 6-9 months Puppy class,
and then went to work in the field. River was with John Kline for his
first year in the field, got his Puppy and Derby points and first two
summers in Montana. John retired at the end of 2005, so I ran River myself
in Open and Amateur All Age stakes in 2006, got his first adult points
and got him qualified for the National Amateur Championship. River went
to trainer Ed Tillson in 2007, where his run continued to mature, and
he again qualified for the NAFC in 2007, but unfortunately his breeder/co-owners
were unable to send him back out with Ed the next year as the housing
market in California began to affect their business. I continued running
River in Amateur stakes only, and he completed his Field Championship
in February 2008 by winning an Amateur All Age stake in Texas. This also
brought him within 3 points of his Amateur Field Championship and completed
his third qualification for the NAFC. He went back to the show ring in
May 2008 and completed his Dual Championship in style with a 5-point major
win in July. In the off-season (December), River and I enjoyed some hunting
trips together in Idaho. He is proof that a smart, biddable All Age dog
CAN make a great hunting companion too, as he naturally adapts to foot
hunting and handles with ease.
River is proving himself to be a strong competitor with
class, speed, strength, and an incredibly strong nose. He is absolutely
beautiful, intense and stylish on point and, equally important to us,
he is also a pleasure to have at home. His sweet demeanor has earned him
friends wherever he goes. River has had great success in his early career
and we look forward to more as he just continues to improve with age!
